Stocks open little changed as countdown to the jobs report begins: Stock market news today

Wall Street stocks were slightly lower at the open on Thursday, coming off a day of gains amid a bond rout reprieve, with the focus now turning to Friday's key labor market data.

TORONTO — Canada's main stock index eked out a small gain Wednesday as broad-based gains led by utility and technology stocks outweighed losses in energy and battery metals, while U.S. markets rose, led by technology.
