A chain of butcher shops in Dublin is chopping prices and selling meat at 1973 prices to mark 50 years in business.

Dublin Live reports that the well-known butchers, who have outlets in Donaghmede, Malahide, Northern Cross and Stepaside, will revert to prices charged under the old imperial system from October 27 to 29.Sirloin steak, which usually retails for €20 per kilo, will go on sale for just €8.37 per kilo; while the price change will see sausages offered for just €2.79 per kilo, and pork chops on the bone will cost just €6.97 per kilo.

Shoppers will also be offered the chance to take a trip down memory lane by sampling cuts of meat that were popular in the 1970s but have since disappeared from butcher shop windows. “We’re all incredibly proud of the journey we’ve undertaken together and the legacy we continue to protect.
