Bond market addition will test China’s resolve

The Bloomberg Barclays Global Aggregate Index started a phased inclusion of Chinese government and policy bank bonds on April 1.

China’s government bonds are on a “watchlist” to join FTSE Russell’s World Government Bond Index, with a review due to take place in September. The country was also put on a watchlist in 2016 for another major bond benchmark, the J.P. Morgan Emerging Markets Government Bond Index Global Diversified.
