The London Marathon has raised more than £1bn for charity: why are marathons such big business?

Around 7,000 brave souls – almost all of them men – donned singlets and short shorts, drawing a mixture of curiosity and bewilderment from locals as they snaked their way through the capital.

I hope this money filters through to the good causes.

A fool and his money are soon parted. Feed people, not charities.

Because it’s real people doing it for actual cash, not some half baked celebrity giving up their time.
