Boosted, a company best known for making electric skateboards, just announced it's making an electric scooter.
The Boosted Rev sells for $1,600 and will be available later this summer. The company is hoping to appeal to a broader customer base, but it will be going up against the scooter-sharing companies that have recently starting popping up in cities. CNBC got to try out the company's newest electric vehicle and talk with the creators. Watch the video to find out why Boosted is betting on scooters.
