Athol Trollip says Ramaphosa should have fired or placed Simelane on special leave.

ActionSA parliamentary leader, Athol Trollip says the fact that President Cyril Ramaphosa has the Phala Phala scandal hanging over his head means that he is not inclined to take serious action against corrupt implicated officials.

This follows the cabinet reshuffle which saw Thembi Simelane being moved from Justice to Human Settlements Minister.Trollip says Ramaphosa should have fired or placed Simelane on special leave instead of moving her to a different department.“Public Protector wrote back to me this week to say that they would now investigate the loan and I think that was the final straw that made the president do what he did, which is a cabinet reshuffle.
