A disappointing outcome to the recent COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan—with a finance deal that falls billions short of a target set by developing countries—means Canada needs to show more leadership through a significantly greater financial commitment towards climate action in 2025, according to environment advocates and experts. “As always, implementation really matters,” said Caroline Brouillette, executive director of Climate Action Network Canada .

“We are able to bring people, resources, technology and expertise together to help carry forward solutions,” said Dilling in the emailed statement. “While at COP, we connected with experts and other heavy industry leaders from around the world to learn how they are tackling these challenges and to share our work, including our proposed carbon capture and storage project. We are a collaborative partner in the work ahead to meet the world’s energy needs while advancing environmental innovations.
