' Trump also expressed a willingness to use 'economic force' to persuade Canadians to join the U.S., although he acknowledged that he might employ military force in the case of Greenland and the Panama Canal. He emphasized his longstanding ambition to acquire Greenland for 'national security' purposes, stating, 'We need it for national security. That’s for the free world. I’m talking about protecting the free world.' His comments coincided with a visit to Greenland by his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, however, firmly asserted that Greenland is not for sale.
