Jaxport moves more than 1.3 million containers a year, filled with every product type that touches shelves and consumers, from office supplies to chemicals to vehicles. The top commodities this year have range alongside the port’s diverse portfolio.
The top import this year, with 39,477 TEUs was furniture, primarily out of China and Vietnam, followed by medical equipment from Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom, at 13,696 TEUs. Non-containerized top imports were passenger cars and trucks out of Mexico and Japan, as well as woodpulp from Japan.Top exports also included passenger vehicles, primarily to Nigeria and Cameroon in West Africa, followed by fluff pulp, a material used in products such as diapers, which is mostly exported to China.
