The betting industry was hit for over €500,000 after two winning horses were backed in a huge gamble.
The bet came in last Friday when two Declan Queally-trained runners provided the handler with a Limerick/Ballinrobe cross-card double. Rocky’s Diamond got the ball rolling in a maiden hurdle at Limerick after being backed from 100/1 into 22/1 minutes before the off. The four-year-old made all under jockey Shane Fitzgerald and won by five lengths, having finished 13 of 14 finishers and 61¾ lengths behind the winner on his debut last month.
