Since the 1990s the horse race for the world’s most valuable company has been between just two firms, but today a new horse has hit the track, and it seemingly grew blisteringly fast in a short amount of time. On Wednesday, the manufacturer of processors NVIDIA became the world’s most valuable company.

NVIDIA took the top spot as the world’s most valuable company just days after it took the second spot from Apple, according to a report from. NVIDIA’s stock climbed 3.5 percent in the last few days, just as Microsoft and Apple saw their own stocks dip.The surge of NVIDIA, compared to its contemporaries, has become emblematic for the fervour around generative AI by investors.

“A new computing era has begun. Companies worldwide are transitioning from general-purpose to accelerated computing and generative AI,” said Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, at the time.the next big processor for companies looking for the latest in generative AI.
