THE Social Housing Finance Corp. announced it followed the call of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar to impose a one-month moratorium on monthly payments for beneficiaries affected by Typhoon Carina last month.
The SHFC Memorandum Circular 24-068 issued on August 2 indicates the prescribed guidelines and procedures for the implementation of the moratorium. MC 24-068 covers a one-month moratorium from August 1 to 31, 2024, and applies to identified and qualified member-beneficiaries. In a televised interview, SHFC President and CEO Federico A. Laxa said member-beneficiaries can stop paying for one month “habang nagre-recover sila.”Apart from the moratorium, the SHFC also gave relief goods to approximately 10,000 families affected by the typhoon in Metro Manila and Central Luzon.
In a statement, the SHFC said it “remains committed to improving the lives of its housing beneficiaries.” Currently, the SHFC has a dozen ongoing housing projects. The latter includes: Crystal Peak Estates in San Fernando City, Pampanga; People’s Ville in Davao City; and Valley View Township in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental. These three projects alone, according to the SHFC, would result in over 45,000 units.
