The S & P 500 advanced 0.7% Thursday, despite tech behemoth Nvidia's post-earnings decline. Shares of the AI chipmaker tumbled 3.5% after the company handily beat estimates on the top and bottom lines Wednesday.

Dover, which makes thermal connectors used in the liquid cooling of data centers, should continue to benefit as Nvidia sells more GPUs to customers that utilize that technology. The stock gained 0.7% on Thursday. Salesforce shares are up more than 1% after the enterprise software company posted a better-than-expected earnings report on Wednesday evening. "This was a really, really good quarter," Jim said.
