A local company, The Mill International, has successfully found a way to recycle event floor covering into resin pellets, which are then molded into seating options. This innovative approach adds a layer of sustainability to the meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE) industry. In 2024 alone, The Mill International utilized its sustainable carpets at prominent events like the Coldplay concert and Singapore Airshow.

They laid down 6,000 sq m of recyclable black carpet for the Coldplay concert at the National Indoor Stadium.Since July 2023, The Mill International has recycled around 65,400 sq m - or more than 16 tonnes - of carpets. This amount could easily cover the area of about 480 five-room Housing Board flats. The company is expecting to produce 300 chairs made from recycled carpets in the first quarter of 2025.The company initially partnered with local recyclers like Plastify and Semula-Asia to transform carpets into smaller products. They have now expanded their efforts to create larger items like chairs and luggage tags from recycled carpets
