European stock markets flattened at the open on Monday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index almost unchanged at 7,304.38 points.[LONDON] European stock markets flattened at the open on Monday, with London's benchmark FTSE 100 index almost unchanged at 7,304.38 points.

In the eurozone, the Paris CAC 40 also held steady at 5,938.52 points, while Frankfurt's DAX 30 slid 0.1 per cent to 13,255.80 compared with Friday's close.
