Police visibility has increased along Durban’s Golden Mile as the city gears-up for what’s expected to be a bumper festive season. Metro Police spokesperson Parboo Sewparsad says police officers have already been deployed in and around the city and the roads to deal with those who break the law. “Some of the plans for the season is saturated policing with blue light coverage and visible policing along the beach front along the CBDs of the city of Durban. We will be concentrating on the following road blocks, drunken driving road blocks, there will be roving roadblock and static roadblocks. We have noticed from last year’s drunken driving statistics have increased and already for this year we have prosecuted more than 5000 drunken driving from the January to date,” says Sewparsad.
Police have announced that plans are in place to ensure the safety of shoppers and tourists in the province this festive season. This follows a string of mall robberies around Durban with the recent shootout between police and robbers at Westville Post Office.“Police officers are already hitting the ground you’ll find them in our malls already they are patrolling our beaches so most of the areas where we know our people will flocking to.
Same old , criminals still rule.
We're here already, Re tlo ntšha koma
