Initial claims for state unemployment benefits decreased 13,000 to a seasonally adjusted 222,000 for the week ended Dec. 21, the Labor Department said on Thursday. The drop in the latest week largely unwound a surge in new claims two weeks earlier that appeared to reflect a late Thanksgiving Day this year compared to 2018. That could have thrown off the model used by the government to strip out seasonal fluctuations from the data.

Now let's look at how many 'liveable wage' jobs have been created. Low-wage and part-time jobs should be reported Separately from real Family-Sustaining jobs. If We still have to subsidize healthcare and nutrition programs for the working poor, who really loses.

Yep, PLENTY of low wage jobs out there! I have two degrees and teach. I also have to work Saturdays to keep up with my bills. Nobody is gainfully employed on wages that make them fall behind every month. What’s our credit card debt, Reuters?
