23 years later, my life insurance still brings me peace of mind

When I moved in with my boyfriend at 22, his father advised us to get renters' insurance. I thought the advice was archaic, but it saved us when a fire wiped out our apartment.

But, despite my thinking the idea ridiculous, it turned out to be a savvy move: Not one year later, when a freak fire at the bakery downstairs gutted our place, I was relieved to have taken what I'd thought was archaic advice. TheA handful of years later, after marrying that boyfriend and buying land together, my husband and I set out to build our dream house." was my father-in-law's sage advice.

I continue to have huge peace of mind knowing that the term policies my now late father-in-law insisted we purchase will allow my children to remain in their childhood home — with a good chunk of cash leftover — should something catastrophic happen to me. All for what seems like pennies each month.

Life insurance is such a poor return in life or death. 0,6% of people in the modern world pass before age 60. 97% of people lapse their premium mid contract and lose everything invested.

I am so sick of seeing life insurance being pushed in all of your posts. So uninteresting I am about to unfollow.
