Canada can be a leader in the global electric-car battery market GlobeBusiness

Well aware of the room for growth, automakers are embracing electrification and racing toward innovation-driven EV models that they hope will lower costs and increase interest. Take General Motors: The leading American car maker has announced it is “on track” to meet its target of having 20 EVs in production by 2023. The Volkswagen Group plans to build 22 million EVs by 2028 and wants 40 per cent of its vehicle sales to be EVs by the end of the decade.

In this rapidly evolving industry, advanced battery materials will emerge at the forefront of economic opportunity. Electric vehicles are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, and the need for metal components essential to EV battery production will grow alongside consumer appetite. This is where Canada could and should enter the picture.

globebusiness I agree. Government should streamline permits to operate to those companies that serve the battery production...as an incentive to allocate capital

globebusiness The cheapest Tesla is 70k, we're subsiding rich people with these bullshit government grants.

globebusiness They better become a leader in the infrastructure to support all these cars with clean energy before we have thousands of electric cars lined up at a handful of charging stations....

globebusiness You mean no more child abuse.

globebusiness Thats good news!

globebusiness Do the levies realise what a lithium battery is made from and how they extract those minerals and metals? If the don’t like Alberta’s oil sands they will be apologetic about lithium mining. 🙄

Licensing for media companies in Canada would likely be proportionate: Heritage ministerThe minister charged with modernizing Canada’s broadcast and telecommunications law says if the government is to adopt recommendations laid out by an expert panel, licensing enforcement likely won’t be applied the same way for small media groups as it will be for global tech giants. If the rules aren't for everyone, why have them? Discriminatory. Start with making Netflix and Amazon pay taxes. how about forcing no anti free speech/free press laws at all?
