As businesses around the US enter various phases of reopening amid the COVID-19 pandemic, Madad says it's critical that employers create a flexible operating plan to adapt to evolving restrictions and keep employees and customers safe. At an individual levels, safety measures should include screening and health checks of employees and a mask-wearing policy. At an operational level, businesses should standardize cleaning and disinfecting routines and reduce the number of customers inside at one time.The COVID-19 pandemic is not only taking a toll on humans, it's also taking a toll on businesses — from Fortune 500 companies, to the trillion-dollar airline industry, to local mom and pop stores down the street.
