Canada's labour market takes bigger hit than expected, shedding 62,600 jobs amid lockdowns

The 0.3 per cent dip in employment in December also followed gains of 0.3 per cent in November, 0.5 per cent in October and an average increase of 2.7 per month from May to September. Canada’s unemployment rate edged up to 8.6 per cent in December from 8.5 per cent in November.

December’s job losses capped off a bad year for the Canadian economy and the world in general, as the coronavirus pandemic sickened millions and forced governments to shut down or restrict businesses, social gatherings and international travel. The economy is also still about 636,000 jobs short of where it was pre-pandemic, as there were around three million people who had lost employment by April, StatsCan says.

Trudopinomics.

Carbon taxes and too much free Liberal government money floating around. Who needs to work anymore?

Yes, because this is a big shock. Wake up!!

Healthy new work models will be necessary to channel that change into the creation of stronger labour markets & sufficient safeguards. COVID19 economy 2021year
