Joe Biden said his Cabinet would be 'the most diverse in history.' We ran the numbers on 7 different metrics to see how diverse his staff really is.

The LGBTQ community is big and growing. A 2017 Gallup poll found thatUS adults, or 4.1% of the population, said they identified as LGBTQ, up from 3.5% in 2013. Among millennials, 7.3% identified as LGBTQ.

Mark Hanis, the founder of the nonprofit Inclusive America, which promotes government diversity, said LGBTQ representation matters, as do all forms of representation, for three reasons: increased productivity and effectiveness, a more moral democracy, and a legally compliant work environment. "You usually find that the candidate who wins the presidency will often bring people from their home state," he said, adding that President Bill Clinton pulled a greater portion of people from Arkansas and both Bush presidents from Texas. "America is obviously not just the Northeast. It's a lot more. But I don't think we think about diversity enough from a geographic-origin perspective.

"There are biases of both self-selection and how those institutions admit people," Hanis said. "Politically appointed positions are not competitive, and therefore perpetuate a lot of the biases. It is not difficult to imagine that if someone went to Harvard or Yale or whatever other Ivy League law school, that they're going to be consciously or unconsciously biased to find the people who went through that similar experience that they did.

Diversity doesn’t guarantee results, competency does. So stop this kind of illogical study and the claims from it.

GlennKesslerWP Yeah? How many poor people did he hire?

Ideological diversity is what matters. Skin tone acts as a proxy, and not a very good one.

GlennKesslerWP But do they know what they are doing?

More diverse also equal the best and the brightest? He’s not the smartest to start with and will need to be surrounded by the best and brightest to have any chance.

Mere diversity in itself is not a virtue .

😂
