UK retail sales fall more than expected despite 35% surge in online sales, as the public finances record the first January deficit in 10 years

Sales at non-food stores slumped 24.4% in January from December, the ONS said. Department stores and clothes shops have been worst hit, as people have been buying clothes either online or in supermarkets during lockdowns.

Oh well. Never mind. They are just private companies that generally minimise tax liability and pay minimum wage and then run off with employees pension pots. Fuck em.

Spain imposed a very strict lockdown and made masks mandatory (even outdoors). Despite this the number of Spanish cases rose sharply in October. Mandatory social distancing/mask wearing does not work. Boris's coronavirus restrictions are destroying the economy and our freedoms.
