Of course they would. Cheap money from the public.

Just dump subscriptions and get a firestick 🤣🤣🤣🤣

There's an Irish film industry?

More stealth taxes the Irish government are like the mafia no matter what you do or where you go you’ve to kick up to the boss.

I'd like a levy on anyone asking for any self-serving levy.

We are too poor quality to compete so please raise taxes to give us a handout. We need a referendum on that, I think.

Hey dummies, you can either have my €4-€5 VAT or you can lose it with this utter utter horse shit.

Why is this right wing Little Irelander nationalism ok ?

We already pay Tax on it every month.. More illegal streaming is all that this will lead too.

So in addition to the licence fee the public would have to pay extra for Netflix to fund shite like last singer standing and Angela whatever her name is? Hard pass

Someone nonce from government on the radio earlier saying the reason for it is because so many people want more RTÉ productions. Everything RTÉ produces is pure shit including their latest pile of muck Kin. I have literally never heard anyone say they want more from RTÉ.

The extortion called TV license is not enough apparently

You know what, if the industry supports this and it eventually gets introduced, I will no longer support the industry and ensure I only watch non homegrown content.

..paying the TV licence on the double so.

I don't understand the rhetoric. This doesn't make Netflix pay its fair share. It makes us pay Netflix's share. I'm not against increased funding of the arts sector but can we at least not pretend it's Netflix paying for it?

Is this Waterford Whispers?

No levy, we already pay a higher VAT rate on our subs as well as higher cost for broadband than most other Europeans. Better off dealing with the tv license fee system.

Put RTE pay per view, simple. As a GAA man it would cause problems but it's tge right thing to do.

Divy up the TV licence tax/ levy already paid. Next there will be a remote control tax per household. nomoretax
