The Kloof and Highway SPCA in Durban has raised concern about the increasing cases of rabies in pets.

The SPCA says their in-house clinic sees between two and five animals with rabies each week, and this is a matter that needs to be addressed urgently. The manager at the Kloof and Highway SPCA, Barbara Patrick, has urged owners to vaccinate their pets.

“Rabies has always been a problem in KZN unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and everything that has gone along with it, people have not been able to necessarily vaccinate their pets against rabies as a result of that we are seeing a much higher number of cases coming into our SPCA obviously, to other organisation’s.
