Conservative and New Democrat MPs are demanding an emergency committee meeting to review the sale of a Chinese business takeover of a Canadian lithium mining company.
The letter was signed by Conservative MPs Ed Fast, Michael Kram, Tracy Gray, and Bernard Généreux and NDP MP Brian Masse. All five are members of the committee. The Industry and Technology committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday but additional meetings can be requested if at least four members from two different parties ask. Tuesday’s letter meets this requirement.
“Investments in critical minerals are systematically and thoroughly scrutinized by the Investment Review Division in concert with the responsible government departments and Canada’s security and intelligence community.”
Why can't Canadians and First Nations collectively benefit from Canada's natural resources?
A review is definitely warranted.
