Phil Spencer, the executive who engineered Microsoft’s $75 billion deal to buy Activision Blizzard, is such a videogame fan that he sometimes plays on his Xbox during conference calls. “Phil at his core is a gamer.”

The $75 billion deal that Phil Spencer engineered for Activision Blizzard Inc. is the biggest bet yet that games can go from a side hustle to a core business at the world’s most valuable software company.

A Microsoft Corp. lifer and a lifelong gamer, Mr. Spencer has been the chief architect and evangelist for a bigger videogame strategy inside a company that revived its fortunes in recent years largely by focusing on business customers. His plan has shifted videogames at Microsoft from its two-decade emphasis on its Xbox videogame hardware to a vision of assembling a roster of studios whose games can be played across a range of devices. And Mr.

Wasn't is $68.9 billion? How does that become $75b?

Well.... it takes a gamer to know a gamer. He's doing a good job with xbox.

Y'all really complaining about him not being a real gamer 😂 he's running a company the fuck lol who cares if he's a real gamer or not the dude is making billion dollar deals and closing them out idc if he put of touch with the audience that ain't his job to do that's developers

75 billion?!

GAMER PREZ GAMER PREZ

What if Spencer didn’t hear one of the bean-counters tell him they could get Activision for $50 billion, because he was too involved in his gaming?

I admire what Phil has done since 2013 in turning the ship round but please Mr. Spencer. Remove all traces of wokeness from your brand. Please.

Dude saved xbox

yeah....no

It should be a gamer running a gaming company. I can’t stand number crunching executives, that’s how Activision Blizzard got to where they are, and why great games like WOW have gone downhill…

for that reason he understands the fans of the video game

Probably one of the few Bosses that knows what he sells.

Levonaxper sei ehrlich, liebst du Ihn?

Spill Phencer

All we want it's FOV Slider 🤣

I want to ask Phil what he thinks of the GTA trilogy or if he gave it a shot 🤣

If only features proven to work on Xbox360 were used on XboxOne; instead of making XB1 dashboard a convoluted mess for years on end for sake of being new. xbox would also perform better, if system was simplified to only include basic dashboard using less resources in background.

Curious to know his top 20 best games list. And wish Last of us 2 to be one of em.

He probably don’t even know how to turn Xbox on. But he has to be a Real gamer in the eyes of his fans.

This is what we like to see

meanwhile at sony..

VictorRBoss

I’ve seen his Gamertag online playing games a bunch of times at like 3-4 in the morning lol.

What a chad! Love this guy!!!😎

I think Spencer is the only CEO that plays video games.

I'm going to try this at work. Wish my continued employment good luck.

❤️

This looks like an ad...

That's right, he is playing rainbow six extraction right now, i know cause i follow him on my xbox friend list

I trust him 💯

75B It’s 68.7🤣🤣🤣🤣

Lol. What's his gamerscore again considering he's been gaming on that profile for over 10 years? Wall Street journal...😂😂

ADHD MF'er

Uncle Phil is a conman.

Best executive in the gaming industry hands down!

I'm not really an Xbox dude but Phil is great. Microsoft is lucky to have him

Hmmm I was guilty of this when I was working from home and I had nothing else to do...

Noice.

Uncle Phil savior of Xbox

*$68.7b

He’s a beast.

I had a feeling he did do something similar.
