The decision hands a win to Republicans who have long criticized social media platforms such as Twitter for what they call anti-conservative bias — disapproval that was amplified when President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter for violating the platform’s rules on inciting violence during the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol.

The order did not evaluate the law on its constitutionality but instead allows the law to go back into effect while the case proceeds in district court, according to afrom one of the plaintiff groups. The ruling came from a three-judge panel on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals — which is often considered the most conservative appeals court in the country — and was not accompanied by a written opinion explaining the decision at the time of publication.to block the law last fall.

So they want to control what a private company can do? That is on brand if hypocritical since they are the ones wanting to keep the government out of company rules.

This just sounds like an excuse for Texans to be racist online

Right to refuse service is settled federal law.

The court needs to define political views. They should also explain when others cross the line from political views to advocating hate. Define free speech while they’re at it. Does free speech include spreading deliberate lies for ones benefit of any sort?

However… Screaming that you’re going to burn every liberal at the stake in Walmart parking lots on Friday nights after the Civil War revolt of the MAGA‘s… is not a political opinion. Derp! 🤪

trump was banned from twitter because his tweets incited the Mass Shooting Massacre at the El Paso Walmart. Not for his political views. elpasotimes ElPasoTXGov VoteBeto RepMattSchaefer RepPfluger chiproytx MattRinaldiTX RepMattKrause DanPatrick txlege

Government control over the media. That's the GOP way. GOP control over private business, but only if you disagree with them.

Which is not a real thing, people banned for their political viewpoints but rather their violation of the terms of service they agreed to when they signed up.

'The right to free speech means the govt can't arrest you for what you say. It doesn't mean that anyone else has to listen to your bullshit, or host you while you share it. The 1st Amendment doesn't shield you from criticism or consequences.' FreeSpeech from xkcd

Good, let's all go to truth social and make fun of trump and the magas

Until someone goes full Stalinst-Maoist and starts advocating takeover of all means of production. Then you will see TX Christianists getting all riled up. 🙄

That’s a good thing right?

People aren’t banned for their political views. They’re banned for spreading health misinformation, hate speech, & threatening others.

Unconstitutional. Company's can do whatever they want with their digital property. GQP judge is trying to keep the Party from facing defeat ahead of elections

Gee

how do you even enforce this

5th Circuit:

Hope this law gets removed quickly. It’s an attack on a company’s first amendment right.

So Twitter just blocks all ISP's from access iy is Texas and they don't want people coming in

Okay but if your political viewpoints are just hate speech then...?
