Genworth Financial’s chief executive, Pauline Blight-Johnston says she’s learnt as much - if not more - about leadership in chairing a private girls’ school than she has in all her years in business.

Pauline Blight-Johnson has a cup of tea, and barely time to touch it. The actuary and chief executive of the country’s largest lenders mortgage insurer is explaining that business, leadership and even schooling isn’t about the numbers. It’s all about people.

And it might be why she says she’s learnt more about running a business as chairman of Sydney private school MLC than almost anywhere else. But, she says, it’s how she has always done things - and of course, getting more people into houses will also be good for business.
