In a written statement, a Rogers spokesperson said the company is “looking forward” to the meeting.

“Rogers understands the frustration and disruption we created for Canadians with our network outage, and we are wholly committed to finding solutions. The federal government and Minister Champagne were there throughout the outage offering assistance, for which we are grateful. They are focused on solutions and a plan for the future and so are we,” the statement said.

Rogers, meanwhile, didn’t provide any more details on refunds it said it will be applying to customers’ next bills.

The bad kids are being called to the principal's office... Ruh-roh...

What happened with Rogers, there is no explanation that will satisfy any of Rogers customers, this was preventable, and they know it. We pay the highest rates for cell phones, service and internet, and we have to put up this crap!! There is no competition because the big 3.

What for? This government has no backbone and won't follow up or implement anything anyway!

Must be negotiating for a bigger cut to keep their mouth shut !!

There should be an accounting of why such a failure occurred.

Trudeau say NO TO THE SHAW DEAL.

Time for Trudeau to step up (for Canadians) & control his ministers to get them out of big telecoms back pocket. The non existent election promise of lower prices that never materialized. Time to also kick butt namely the CRTC boss who likes being dined by big tele also.

They literally are too big! Too big to fail!

Our so-called 'minister' can do nothing b/c Roger's and Bell have the govt by the balls. I picture a 4 foot man cowering while a 10 foot giant stands over top of him dictating what he wants from govt.

The CRTC needs to stop this merger of Rogers and Shaw. Monopolies should never be allowed. The consumer suffers, the CEO’s make billions.

Slap on the wrist and told to pay a 5 dollar fine.

Executives, managers, team leads and staff will be fired It's such a big failure implementing upgrades without testing As soon as I heard 911 was impacted I knew it was servers issues impacted call routings from switches Bell and Telus have been helping them, that's for sure

as long as politician$ get their cut from monopolies, nothing will change. in fact, they might discuss more price increases to add insult to the injury 😠

dmrider 'Rogers CEO and other telecom execs summoned to meet with industry minister' - funny, it's usually the other way around.

Summoned 😂😂😂

The Rogers family was aided in becoming rich and powerful through decisions by governments and their agencies, especially the CRTC, going back to 1969. Rogers was awarded small community cable TV licences then allowed to buy other systems to build a government protected monopoly

Monopoly held by Bell and Roger's Must be broken. Rogers and Shaw merger must be stopped. All companies must be let in. The consumer should be the winner not the Corporations.

Cant let these telecom execs have control of such a critical tool for everything from parking meters to 911 emergency communications. They have a lot to answer for. If a maintenance update fault upends the entire country 2 years in a row?

I predict a bit of finger wagging for the cameras and no action taken. The cozy oligarchy will continue.

Federal Govt can't handle its own issues (passports, immigration, CRA, airports, etc) why would we think they have any cogent advice for telecoms? nationalpost CBC CTVNews

Debriefing

Smoke and mirrors.

Break them up

RodKahx Great... but when does my internet and cable start working again ffs!?

How much Government money will they all get My taxes, when I can barely afford groceries should not be flowing to companies with executives with millions of dollars in cempensation.

The Liberals work for corporations, not Canadians.

Oh I bet they're just shaking in their boots.
