CommSec’s Tom Piotrowski says the stock market will kick off with a “modest decline” this morning.

“Probably a disappointing performance as far as US markets were concerned,” he told Sky News Australia.

“They were posting some impressive gains in the early part of the session, the S&P 500 was up by as much as a per cent when they kicked off, but we saw those gains moderate, and the S&P 500 finished with a loss of around 0.1 of a per cent.”
