The St. Jude had an exciting conclusion. First, Zalatoris bounced a shot along a stone wall lining the lake at the par-3 11th, was fortunate his ball stayed out of the hazard, and eventually made bogey. Hitting second on the tee, Straka hit his approach in the water, his third shot into a bunker and made double-bogey.

After this week's BMW Championship at Wilmington Country Club, the top 30 players on the FedExCup points list will qualify for East Lake. But the players will be given a head start — the No. 1 player will start at 10-under — at East Lake according to their position on the points list. The No. 2 player will start at 8-under. The No. 3 player will start at 7-under with the No. 4 player at 6-under and the No. 5 player at 5-under. Other players will be given their head start strokes in groups of five down to the final five who receive no head start.Zalatoris ranks third on the 2022 PGA Tour money list with earnings of $9.4 million.
