The Construction Industry Federation has said the Help to Buy scheme must be extended to offset rising costs for first-time buyers. ​ ​The lobby group also called for lower taxes for small landlords to stop what it called their “exodus” from the market

The government must extend its “vital” €600 million Help to Buy scheme for another three years to help both builders and first-time buyers with soaring costs, the country’s construction lobby group has said.

The Construction Industry Federation also warned that low levels of projected government spending on infrastructure projects under the €165 billion National Development Plan do not “augur well for the pipeline of construction projects”.
