In August, Allen, a game designer who lives in Pueblo West, Colorado, won first place in the emerging artist division’s “digital arts/digitally-manipulated photography” category at the Colorado State Fair Fine Arts Competition. His winning image, titled “Théâtre D’opéra Spatial” , was made with Midjourney — an artificial intelligence system that can produce detailed images when fed written prompts. A $300 prize accompanied his win. “I’m fascinated by this imagery. I love it.
“AI artwork is the ‘banana taped to the wall’ of the digital world now.” Yet while Allen didn’t use a paintbrush to create his winning piece, there was plenty of work involved, he said. “It’s not like you’re just smashing words together and winning competitions,” he said. You can feed a phrase like “an oil painting of an angry strawberry” to Midjourney and receive several images from the AI system within seconds, but Allen’s process wasn’t that simple.
Humans: AI can't be as creative as artists so they can't replace us. Also humans when AI won the contest: AI Art should not be on the same category!

That is like artist complained that computer art is not real art just a some clicks to generate an image, they need to use real paint to but in the emotions. Just create a new competition category „ARTI“ 😄
It’s not art. Art is a creative concept that requires - and is born out of - human emotion, imagination and effort. AI is the art.

Art is about perception but also ideas and tastes. And all that changes over time so that what we think is art today might be kitsch tomorrow. Art is not science. Good art or bad? We simply don’t know a lot of the time.
It is undeniably art and undeniably beautiful … but it should me a different category … time to update competitor rules

The “Théâtre D'opéra Spatial” is a remarkable work of art. Being a fan of renaissance art myself this puts a wonderful twist on things it’s not too grotesque the colors are eye catching. Now we can’t replace the good old-fashioned canvas and paintbrush.
True art is born from human emotions.
AI might be able to create art but only a real living person can resent it.
