Is it time to start paying with $2 bills?

Inflation has made it hard to buy much with a buck these days. $1 pizza has disappeared. Dollar stores aren’t dollar stores anymore. So wouldn’t it make more sense to start paying with $2 bills instead? “If you had a $2 bill, perfect,” said Heather McCabe, a writer and $2 bill evangelist who runs the blog Two Buckaroo chronicling her spending with twos and other people’s reactions. “It’s a very useful thing to pay for a small amount.” Yet the $2 note is the unloved child of paper currency.

The aim was to cut the number of $1 bills in circulation and save the Treasury money on production costs. But the relaunch in 1976 failed. People viewed the new version as a collector’s item and hoarded them instead of going out and spending them. The Postal Service offered to stamp them only on April 13, the first day they were issued in honor of Jefferson’s birthday, unintentionally adding to the idea that they were commemorative bills -— a misconception that continues to this day.

History MONEY

Yeah, inflation makes it unreasonable to carry so many 1's in my wallet

I think we still have a couple from the last time. This will be like the clocks back/forward that NEVER gets resolution.

Once again, America so so far behind the rest of the world, still using dollar bills, along with $2 bills, most countries are using coins and have for over 10 years or longer! Gave up pennies like 9 years ago too.

No, they were a pain the first time

Another thought provoking question by CNN.

Blame inflation and the current president, what's his name.

Why do you still have $1 or $2 bills? Why do you still have pennies? Canada got rid of all those and has $1 and $2 coins. New Zealand went further, and got rid of the 5 cent coin.

We have to get rid of pennies first.

Me after I buy 4 ps5s and pay the scalper with $2 bills

So “Buck Stops here” and new era of $2 bill begins..”did you hear $tree and dollar stores?”

No just use Apple Pay.

If it means more burden on tax payers why not.

If they're not worth like $50 a piece, my dad would tell me to keep them.
