Operator Core Lithium plans to mine 16 million tonnes of ore over the mine's 12-year lifespan and export it overseas The company also intends to expand exploration in the region, sparking concerns for the environment among some residents The Finniss Lithium Project, operated by Core Lithium, is the only current lithium mine in Australia outside of Western Australia.

Its opening comes barely a year after construction began, with the company now planning to extract more than a million tonnes of ore each year and export it overseas.

Sooo sustainable. Seriously. Green idiocy

The most toxic and energy intensive thing you can mine is lithium. And the batteries have a very limited life, especially given the harsh conditions in Australia I am surprised the greenies don't know this. Then again the greenies have never stepped foot onto a mine site

So does our electricity costs. Up 30% next year.

Wow look at how eco friendly that lithium mine is.

Electric cars today and out to mid 2030s are powered by coal. AEMO has made that clear.
