The bipartisan transition team is expected to work together for about 60 days as Arizona's new governor looks to solidify key players in her new administration. phoenix

Governor-elect Katie Hobbs has named a high-profile Republican businesswoman to co-chair her transition team and help oversee a bipartisan review of numerous Arizona agencies and administrative boards.

Monica Villalobos, president and CEO of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, was contacted by Hobbs earlier this week along with Democrat Michael Haener, a political lobbyist who was previously deputy chief of staff under former Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano, to co-chair the bipartisan transition team.

"The [transition committee] will be a robust selection from both sides of the aisle and will be an open marketplace of ideas," Villalobos told the Business Journal."We will be focused on evidence-based decisions, and everything is fair game in deciding which folks will stay on and which folks will be moving on and need to be replaced. The goal is to create an effective and productive administration.

"As a moderate Republican who deals with business issues every day I want to make sure we are creating opportunities for small businesses to grow and scale. We want to make sure Arizona continues its business-friendly environment," she said.
