Because the multi-billion expansions are no more, a natural evolution into a production plateau, & reflective that over the next couple decades that oil sands will begin to dwindle. Right now is about production & profits, & for AB should be about securing reclaimation bonds.

Hmm, I wonder what bloated, taxpayer-funded Liberal Party propaganda agency disguising itself as a 'news network' has consistently helped promote the decline of Canada into a Third World banana republic has brought us to this point? CBC

Well. You keep giving it away.

Guck you cbc

Let’s talk about govt employee raises

BAmbition2021 Both my Canadian and American brothers and sisters have been hit pretty hard . Oil has always been feast or famine. A way of our life

If you went to a store and dropped big money but the staff and management treated you like shit, would you keep shopping at that store?

Why would any business invest in a country that is actively trying to run you out of business?

There’s no point in adding new capacity because the existing pipelines are all full, and the Feds have ensured that they can’t build more, so no way to get any new production to market.

Why would any company reinvest capital when you have a federal government that openly hates the industry. The companies will take the money and reinvest in other countries

Hasn't Trudeau done the same and spent or sent all Canada's profits overseas ? Everyday he announces new aid for different countries

Why would they. Trudeau started a war on oil and gas. The feds want to tax the hell out of all companies. Trudeau is bad for investment

And they aren’t hiring or increasing wages either. It’s lining their greedy, fat pockets.

If it were nationalized, the money would stay here.

Oil revenues could be at all time highs because of inflation and artificially limited supply. When demand picks up and production increases sometime in 2023 hopefully things will change.

Oil companies know it’s not going to last

'Oils dead, oils dead, oils dead' ' Why wont they invest in our country anymore?'

The taxes and royalties they pay are reinvestments back into the Alberta economy. It's not their business to be handing out profits to support a government ideology.

Who knew ? ! !

This is how the oil companies pay back Albertans for their cult like obedience.

Why would foreign oil companies keep money in Canada? Ha ha

And what about municipal taxes?

The UCP was bought and paid for my large multinationals. The UCP then payed them back with generous tax cuts and subsidies, paid for by the ALBERTA TAX PAYERS. Why do you think they were so quick to do away with donation limits and 3rd party limits . UCPcorruption

Because of Federal government policies that provide strong disincentives to invest in O&G in Canada. Better to take that money and invest in countries that actually value oil and gas development. defundCBC

CBC , you make these statements as if you didn't have a role to play in this happening to begin with . You know, cause and effect. You've helped make your own country less prosperous and secure to keep your own darn jobs secure & with tax payers $ . wow.

Perhaps they have determined that the 'Golden Goose' is dead and they are getting as many unlaid golden eggs from the cadaver as possible as quickly as possible.
