Plus, a developer is planning to build a 126,000-square-foot industrial project in north Phoenix, which has seen an increased demand for industrial space.

Glendale City Council gave the green light for a new industrial facility in its growing Loop 303 industrial core in the Waddell area despite strong opposition from residents.

The annexation, rezoning and general plan amendment requests for the property each passed 4-3 with Vice Mayor Jamie Aldama and Councilmembers Bart Turner and Lauren Tolmachoff voting against the items. City Council narrowly approved the requests after multiple residents opposed the development with concerns about impacts the new warehouses could have on the surrounding residents and rural community.

Avondale's City Council held public hearings for a request to amend the city's general plan, an annexation and rezoning for nearly 200 acres near Dysart and Broadway roads on Monday.530 single-family homes, 311 rental homes, 120 townhomes and commercial space near the Sierra Estrella mountains, according to Phoenix-based Withey Morris. It’s being developed by Phoenix-based Sonoma Communities, which is connected to Clyde Capital LLC.
