U.S. defense companies are finding it tough to quickly replenish weaponry such as missiles and artillery shells for Ukraine, leading Pentagon officials to revisit whether industry consolidation has gone too far

That deal is also subject to shareholder and regulatory antitrust approval, giving the Pentagon, the Justice Department and the FTC a chance to include the lessons learned fromA challenge for the Pentagon and antitrust enforcers is how to measure the potential impact of defense-industry deals. There has been relatively little academic work in the defense sector, in contrast with industries such as healthcare, in part because of a lack of available data and the difficulty of measuring outcomes.

The Pentagon’s Ms. Najieb-Locke said the department is working to commission more academic work on the sector and improve the available data to help its analysis of deals. “We don’t see regulatory hurdles to an L3Harris-Aerojet deal as there are no vertical integration issues, and the resulting company is still smaller than several larger primes,” said Byron Callan, a defense analyst at Capital Alpha Partners LLC.Christian Murdock/The Gazette/Associated Press

Other western nations need to step up too, there's no reason America should be funding like 90% of it

Thats a look pic!

We need more war industry? To use against the citizens eventually?

The government should form Their own defense production company - problem solved

And they say Russia can't defeat ukraine; literally its American arms and Ukrainian bodies. Proxy war is hard to fight, Vietnam for American, Afghanistan for Russia.

eshaLegal Fake info by WSJ?

The poor america😄

☮️

So eight year old birthday parties may not be blown up in the middle east? Oh the horror

Wait, the entirety of NATO is running out of Excalibur shells?

Are we speaking about breaking up the monopoly of the defense industry because I agree. In order to scale we need to expand our production lines. Better to learn this now than during the war with China.

Indict Biden for treason

But pronouns?

Really in the US I would have never guessed it! 😂

China right now = 🤣

🤣

I'm no expert on military affairs but handing over so much of our weaponry to Ukraine seems like a very risky thing to do. What if we suffered a Pearl Harbor type of attack?

Stay home?

Hey China has lots of munitions they are waiting to use…..on us and Taiwan

Defense secretary have lack or no knowledge of strategic thinking, should be secretary of logistics instead.

CONgress owns a lot of this, too.

At greater expense to American tax payer

Revisit? Really? Is that necessary? The answer is staring you in the face.

ControlCompli8 Free trade for ya.

Who could ever have predicted that a war would use more than 14,400 artillery shells per month? (current U.S. output) Gee, I don't know. Maybe anyone who studied any history at all. Pentagon procurement decisions are about pensions, not readiness.

Ask Ike...

They better sort it out before we end up neck deep in a direct conflict with China

My fellow democrats, help me boost up the military industrial complex! We need more bombs!

Defense contractors going to make a huge killing $$$ ... Pun intended

Conglomerates 😂 Huge issue in the U.S.

Good to find out now, with a REAL modern war going on in Ukraine, and not just middle east mini wars. If US production cannot keep up with Ukraine, then what the hell happens if US gets in a real war with China or Russia?

Youd think the people that spend half of our country’s budget every year could have done some basic financial predictions

Sustainability and readiness has been a question with the armed forces since at least Afghanistan and the Iraq war, budget issues, new priorities and new systems always battled for dollars and attention.

Sounds like another $100 bill to Ukraine?!

Good thing America has endless gun and ammo manufacturers that can re-tool quickly. Need some leadership from the top to get it done. ArmUkraineNow

🫢

This is bullshit, these companies are making so much money fleecing the taxpayers

...and even more ✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

Gee….who would have thought…monopoly

✌🏽✌🏽✌🏽

😂😂😂

Ukraine is hollowing out America!

Imagine that.
