Stage 6 load shedding will be implemented from midday until further notice, Eskom announced.
"The refuelling and maintenance outage starting this week, as well as the long-term operation project of Unit 1 of the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, together with the October chimney failure that has forced three generation units offline at Kusile Power Station, will further reduce available generation capacity and significantly increase the occurrence of load shedding during the next six to twelve months," Eskom said on Tuesday.
There is currently 6 392MW on planned maintenance, while another 16 318MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdowns. Eskom will implement continuous stage 2 load shedding until further notice due to the breakdown of six generating units at five power stations, the power utility said on Friday afternoon.
Stage 1 will resume at 05:00 on Monday morning until 16:00, when Stage 2 will be implemented throughout Monday night. The lifeline from PetroSA was supplied after Eskom recently ran out of funds to pay for diesel, which it uses to supplement generation capacity.Since Wednesday afternoon, a generating unit each at Grootvlei, Kendal and Tutuka power stations were taken offline for repairs, Eskom said. Another four units were taken offline at Camden power station to repair a water leak on a line that supplies auxiliary cooling water.
The Department of Public Enterprises, which oversees state-owned Eskom, said earlier that it’s urgently working with National Treasury and the utility to find money for diesel. Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented continuously until 05:00 on Tuesday morning, Eskom said on Monday afternoon.Stage 4 will be implemented daily at 16:00 - 05:00 until further notice, the utility said.
Three units at Kusile Power Station are offline due to the duct failure late in October and will remain offline for a few months while repairs to the chimney system take place, it added. Meanwhile Unit 1 of Koeberg Nuclear Power Station will continue to generate at a reduced output over the next three weeks.Stage 4 load shedding was suspended at 08:00 on Sunday, power utility Eskom announced.
Since Friday morning a generating unit each at Kendal and Kriel power stations were taken offline for repairs. There have also been delays in returning to service a unit each at Arnot, Grootvlei, Hendrina and Tutuka power stations . He said those municipalities that owed Eskom needed to consider their role in causing more load shedding.
Shame on Eskom... You guys are turning SA into a dark nation. Shame on you Eskom shame on you. Even on new year's day we couldn't cook till late bcux of Eskom. Staying the dark 2irh no electricity is gradually becoming a norm.
Break! Seems Eskom_SA is falling apart literally and figuratively. Proudly brought to you by MYANC. More to come shortly!
Heard from young auditor sent to do Eskom’s audit at power stations .. nothing numbered or stored correctly .. had to go back 4 times to audit same places(chaos) .. workers got twitchy (criminal elements) so security for the auditors at extra expense, had to be got
SA is kappot. Thanks to the ANC
cyrilramaphosa Actual an ANC government planned it long time ago. When it was promising free electricity it knew it's going to use it against people. Eskom is power has become the the God of South Africa. ANC knew it
Kak in die pomp
More sabotage even if Soldiers are there to protect power stations. I wonder who is fooling who.
Eskom_SA sucks! For loadshedding to become 'normal' is disgusting. South African MSM should focus on Eskom_SA deep dive into how & why we are in this situation. Surely people are not naive enough to believe no person/entity is to blame..is there no repercussion
stage 6 permanently. Stop lying. There arent any breakdowns.
Eskom is nonsense mxm shift
South African we deserve everything 😪 we got the leaders we needed so be it
And businhasnt started back up yet. Level 6 next week.
Do any of the units that break down ever get fixed? By now we've run out of units to breakdown..
Very flimsy these units
We pay soo much tax for this kinda crap kodwa
Is this the way we will continue? It is ok that many people are sorting out themselves with inverters and solar panels, but the economy is crumbling; companies, shops etc are closing down by the day all thanks to Eskom loadshedding 🤔
Tsek!
CyrilRamaphosa stop spending and wasting money on tombstones and put an end to loadshedding. We ARE getting very tired now. gatvol
How. But how. 2?

Seems like when Eskom_SA staff return to work all f ing units start to break down. 😡😡
Escom is so unreliable

Welele
The country's infrastructure is on the brink of total collapse. One of the most integral, being Eskom, has dropped from being among the best to the worst company in the world. And yet, the degenerate ANC cronies are fighting amongst themselves. Not a care about fixing the country
Which units at what station? Do some actual fucking journalism!
De Ruyter strikes again as expected!
