'We need to get someone like Lord Sugar to treat the NHS like a business.' This caller tells AndrewCastle63 the NHS should adopt a business model amid the threat of more strikes.

confirmed that a ballot will open on Monday.Ahead of the vote BMA has said that the strike action is likely to go ahead.READ MORE:Firstly, he told Andrew that 'nurses don't want more money, they need more nurses'.But that suggestion wasn't the caller's last. He put forward the idea of the NHS adopting a business model.or somebody big like that, to go in and treat the NHS like a business,' the caller said.

However, Andrew Castle stated that it would be more beneficial if Chief Executive of NHS England Amanda Pritchard, actually sat down and talked to someone about the ongoing problems plaguing the NHS.

AndrewCastle63 The Americans had the same idea when choosing a President!!😂😂 let's skip that idea!!

AndrewCastle63 Rubbish idea.

AndrewCastle63 😆

AndrewCastle63 They did exactly that back in the 80s or 90s with John Harvey-Jones. He gave up, it was too complex and challenging for simple business approach.

AndrewCastle63 No spivs for the NHS

AndrewCastle63 Clearly this person has not lived in a country where health actually IS treated as a business.

AndrewCastle63 Right idea, wrong person.

AndrewCastle63 NHS is a business, but is run as a failing business. It has horrendous corporate governance. Too many inefficiencies, especially 'bureaucracy'. It is unbelievably inefficient when buying medicines etc. The cheque book is out and the suppliers know it.

AndrewCastle63 Years ago a well thought of business man/adviser spent months reviewing the NHS & suggested what needed to be done, his advice was ignored as wud have meant many a unionised jobsworth would have lost their pointless waste of money job & admin streamlined etc

AndrewCastle63 No business would touch the model, it is a time bomb

AndrewCastle63 This country needs to be run like a business. Politics has failed, it's become tribal and not for Britain. We need to employ people with skills and expertise in each area, transport, health, not Hancock and Shapps. Give them clear KPI's and fire them if not delivered.

AndrewCastle63 Government as a whole should be. From top to bottom. You’d see less money wasted. Scrap subsidies and in come genuine expense claims. Scrap second homes and you save a fortune. Most companies make deals with hotel chains

AndrewCastle63 Then we are all fucked then.

AndrewCastle63 Can't think of ANYTHING WORSE,than putting a devious, snarling BASTARD,like Sugar,in charge of a 'public service'!NHS is NOT a 'profit-making' organisation. It is a PUBLIC SERVICE!It DOES need reform-like all huge organisations,it CLEARLY has too many chiefs and not enough indians

AndrewCastle63 I agree. NHS has been abused by the British public for so long it is beyond repair.

AndrewCastle63 The NHS is not a business, nor is education or the emergency services or social services, they are public services, we need to run them that way, the benefits show up in the community, in our society as a whole not on a balance sheet.

AndrewCastle63 Make it worse then? Great. That’ll work,

AndrewCastle63 People are just so ill informed. Trump ran the US like one of his businesses and look what happened

AndrewCastle63 God help us no.

AndrewCastle63 The issue is the NHS is deliberately being run in to the ground, it's following the dentistry model, I wouldn't be surprised if the NHS started private operations for people willing to pay and jump the queues, it seems the Tories are hoping for a Trump win and an NHS sell off.

AndrewCastle63 Strikes haven’t damaged the NHS. 12 years of Tory mismanagement has!

AndrewCastle63 No funds for cancer treatment? Tough.

AndrewCastle63 Yeah let's put sharks in charge 🙄 the state of some callers

AndrewCastle63 These people walk among us 🤦‍♂️

AndrewCastle63 Why bother the Tories have been stripping assets out of it for years and doing a very good job

AndrewCastle63

AndrewCastle63 We need to put financial gain at the bottom of the to do list.

AndrewCastle63 People who believe the reality tv hype of a character. Jeez.

AndrewCastle63 Sounds a bit like “we need a businessman to run the USA”. You got Trump - disaster. Wrong idea on every conceivable level.

AndrewCastle63 no we don't, we need matrons back and give them the power to sack middle managers

AndrewCastle63 It's the business model that has wrecked the NHS

AndrewCastle63 Is this a serious suggestion?

AndrewCastle63 Sugar is the very last person the NHS needs. Stop talking nonsense!

AndrewCastle63 We need to get the man who thought the ipod would be a five minute fad while peddling a phone that could send emails despite the prevalence of home computers? Yeah, great shout.

AndrewCastle63 I think ‘lord Sugar’ should be thrown into a vat of molten treacle.

AndrewCastle63 Privatisation is why US healthcare costs 3-4 times (per capita) as much as healthcare does in the UK. Guess who pays the extra?

AndrewCastle63 Sugar...nooo Mr arrogant may favour the American model. We require one of the very successful Nordics, French, Spanish models.

AndrewCastle63 I think a single parent who has to budget their money every week would be able to run the NHS and make a profit

AndrewCastle63 There's enough money being squirrelled out of the NHS without getting Sugar involved.

AndrewCastle63 So that if it was expensive to treat someone the NHS could just refuse?

AndrewCastle63 No, we need a Doctor in charge, who knows what doctors, nurses and patients need and how the system works.

AndrewCastle63 The NHS needs to be turned into a coop and run and paid for by those who believe in it. As long as people who do not like it are allowed to run it and are forced to pay for it, it will remain the bottom of health services.

AndrewCastle63 Remind me how successful Amstrad where and why they aren't a big name any more. Running the NHS for profit will destroy it further and mean profit is put above patients and their welfare.

AndrewCastle63 Government programs aren’t businesses for a reason. If the NHS becomes a business, service will be expensive and not available to a large number of people. How’s that rural mail service going?

AndrewCastle63 No, but it does need funding properly ( & a different government too).

AndrewCastle63 We have Sunak & Hunt, seem to be coping well with privatisation

AndrewCastle63 Under labour NHS funding went up each year at about 6.6% . Cameron and osbourne cut that to 1.1% . Its now 2.2%. Can we see some of the problem yet?

AndrewCastle63 Wasn’t it lawnsley / Rawnsley who effed it up by acting on this sort of thinking?

AndrewCastle63 Why not show the results of your poll?

AndrewCastle63 Last thing we need . IMHO

AndrewCastle63 Why would anyone suggest putting someone incapable of empathy in charge of an organization that's existence was built on and survives because of exactly that?

AndrewCastle63 The nursing medical staff in the nhs should be in the highest pay band and not the CEO whatever of each trust or hospital

AndrewCastle63 Oh, dear God. The last thing we need is fucking Amshealth

AndrewCastle63 We live in a time where taking care of sick and vulnerable people has no value compared to taking care of business

AndrewCastle63 You should never make profit out of sickness. And that goes for Care Homes & Retirement Homes. All should be taken into public hands and properly financed and regulated.
