The median home sale price in 2022 was up 10% from a year earlier. The rise was another hurdle for buyers already facing surging mortgage rates.

The median home sales price in 2022 was $386,300, up 10.2% from 2021, and the highest on record going back to 1999, according to data from the National Association of Realtors released Friday. Home sales had their weakest year since 2014, with 5.03 million homes sold, down 17.8% from the year before.
