Normally, prices at the gas pump drift lower during the dead of winter as lousy weather keeps Americans off the roads. But something unusual is happening this year

The national average for regular gas jumped to $3.51 a gallon on Friday, according to AAA. Although that’s a far cry from the record of $5.02 a gallon last June, gas prices have increased by 12 cents in the past week and 41 cents in the past month. All told, the national average has climbed by more than 9% since the end of last year – the biggest increase to start a year since 2009, according to Bespoke Investment Group.

US refineries are operating at just 86% of capacity, down from the mid-90% range at the start of December, according to Bespoke. Oil prices bounce off lows Beyond the refinery problems, oil prices have crept higher, helping to drive prices at the pump northward. Since tumbling to $71.02 a barrel on December 9, US oil prices have jumped about 16%, to around $82.30 on Friday. That increase has been driven in part by expectations of higher worldwide demand as China relaxes its Covid-19 policies.

.40cents in two weeks down here in Texas!

Whatever it is this administration will blame Trump….or Putin..no wait , it’s still Trumps fault. 🙄

I thought joe fixed this

You voted dictator dementia Joe Biden in office, don’t complain!!

Yeah it rhymes with Joe Biden sucks

It's not 1st April......

Yeah, let's say it together...Biden sucks

President Biden cannot tap in the reserve now! The election is over and prices will go back up. Most see this and others will deny. Either way all will pay at the pump.

So tired of hearing “it’s corporate greed” from people who just want to end our existing democracy.

Yes, it's the Biden administration failure to use fossil fuels! Let's not forget the Recession!!

For once in a great while, CNN has spoken the TRUTH!

What’s gas?

hum. bizarre

But the big man has been bragging about how prices on everything have been dropping.. somebody better get on the interns that feeds this propaganda to you guys before you so readily cover for him…

Usually we don’t have a president that is against fossil fuels and oil. Perhaps that coupled with the fact that Shane is coming out of Covid once again, it’s leading to hire oil prices. The president could do a lot to bring oil prices down. But he chooses not to.

Hmmmmmm…. Not the war in Ukrainian, not the winter…could it be price gauging? Yes, that’s it

Corporate greed isn’t unusual, it’s just at higher levels than it’s been in recent history…

Maybe the keystone pipeline shouldn't have been shut down.

No shit.

Weren’t you just praising Biden for gas going down? 🤔

Biden’s America 🤡🔥🇺🇸

Unusual?! You mean more record breaking gouging for more record profits! I don’t know about y’all but I never saw ANY fuel shortages?!

Its called inflation.

Thank your president

Nobody listen in the fake news back in December when sleepy Joe was robbing our national reserves that after the holidays the gas prices would be going right back up close to four dollars, start paying attention

Oh of course. Biden is destroying your country with senility.

It's called failed leadership exasperated by bad policy.

Price gouging and profiteering? you don't say.

'Something unusual is happening this year' big oil companies being greedy and fucking the country with little to no real reason isn't unusual

Joe Biden needs to send in the FBI to arrest all the oil company executives and then nationalize the companies.

There's nothing unusual about price gouging.

Ever since SpeakerMcCarthy sold his soul to his party to become speaker. Gas/oil companies know they can do whatever, the GOP won’t stop them.

Yeah Biden administration happened
