Pacala spoke to the Business Journal as Ouster completed its merger with rival Velodyne — and announced a new round of layoffs.

Those numbers would imply the combined company had as many as about 670 people before this week's layoffs, which means that it could cut another 170 workers after them.

Ouster has not yet decided what to do with Velodyne's former headquarters at 5521 Hellyer Ave. in San Jose, he said.The company will continue to support Velodyne's revenue-generating products, he said. For the first three quarters of last year, Velodyne"There is still a significant customer base for Velodyne's products, and I'm happy to be able to support those going forward," Pacala said.
