Before turning to US ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy here’s another post from Future Fund chairman Peter Costello from this morning’s panel.

Costello, Nine Entertainment chairman and former treasurer, said Chinese equities made up about 40 per cent of the Future Fund’s exposure to emerging markets, but raised concerns they could be compromised by technology export bans. “Now what worries us is that as this decoupling goes on, the US Commerce Department and the Bureau of Industry and Security is announcing various Chinese companies that you can’t export high-tech equipment to. There’s no ban on investment in these companies – they’re their export bans.
