Vote buyers were seen making brisk business at some polling units in Jigawa State during the governorship and state House of Assembly elections.

Votes buyers, from across political parties, were seen at some polling units openly giving out money, clothing materials and foodstuff before voters who showed evidence of voting for their parties. A voter at Polling Unit 024 in Kiyawa LGA, whose name is Musa, told DAILY POST he was given N1000 and two packets of spaghetti to vote. Those engaging in vote buying, DAILY POST observed, took advantage of the absence of security personnel.

When contacted, spokesman of the Jigawa State Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said more police will be deployed to the areas.
