Made-in-America is making a comeback. “We want to be masters of our own destiny.”

Executives who have already reshored their manufacturing caution that challenges await their peers.

Gary Gereffi, director of the Duke Global Value Chains Center, said despite the surge in factory building, many industries are unlikely to create entirely homegrown supply chains. California-based eyewear vendor Zenni Optical Inc. exclusively used its own Chinese manufacturing facilities during much of its 20-year existence. In May, the company opened its first U.S. plant near Columbus, Ohio, to better serve the Midwest and East Coast, where most of its sales originate.

How much is being invested in new factories in the U.S.?

Any reporter should see the documentary movie 'the American factory'. My bet is on China for the next century.

In simple terms, higher costs are making a comeback.

Got to give it to Joe Brandon, he actually kept his promise to do what Trump couldn't. Make Things In America Again. Goes to show you we all need to start voting Democrat, they seem to now be the party of economy while the Republicans the party of gun violence and wokeness

Moronic policy. Autarchy is never superior to free trade and specialisation.

Unless the factories are staffed by robots good luck. Also the 1000% price hike so some fat cat can slap that sticker on the box isn’t worth anything.

How long before China's one child destroys it industry and it army?

This was considered racist when trump was president

It’s great. But we just have to be prepared that the trade off is higher costs

😆

Deindustrialized Europe and sent them to the United States. Brilliant chess move even if it cost thousands even millions of lives.

Leave manufacturing for developing countries.

Making what? Cheap junk. There not bringing back the steel industry or anything on that massive a scale and not this fast. Small technology companies, robots run production no jobs really that will pay middle class type incomes.

Yes please!

It was nice to see Trump open everyone’s eyes about this years ago.

About time

Amen 🙏🏻

Made-In-America = inflation. Companies that normally pay $2/hr in China will be paying $20/hr.

Yeah right. Biden destroyed the economy on purpose.

🤣 🤣 🤣 To bad all the labels said maid in China

Yes, because now that China is prefered by the banks, why not turn america into china 2.0, imean who cares right? They already stole all the money...

Good choice, but you should also upgrade your system of the school education. More attention should be paid to math, physics, chemistry and so on... And sorry - level must not be oriented on the weakest pupils

Its inflationary

I guess when the harboring countries of sweat factories expose how weak and corrupt the US is and turn against us, “hey, we are going American again”. That’s what it takes for Americans to stay loyal to America? It’s really quite sad. But yay Robots! FUSA (sarcasm btw)

mrlevine Tesla is leading the way

Protectionism

If only this were true… i dont see any factories opening anywhere and businesses are still going bankrupt all around us every day

Tell that to Bush and Clinton.🤔

Thanks Joe Biden 💙

Someone better tell these guys.

Idk I thought production in the US had slowed down some?

Now we just need 100,000 construction workers to work on housing.

Thank you President Biden

Relying on China or any other country that don't have the same values is a huge mistake. China makes up almost 30% of worlds products whereas US is about 18%. Got some catching up to do.

MAGA works....

Why does your article about *American* manufacturing show a pic of an *Indian* guy?

WSJ article: - says 'Made-in-America is making a comeback'. - shows pic of Indian H1B in a factory.

But remains a banana republic.

good

With the American, work ethic, I am not sure this is a good idea! I like my Subaru that is made in Japan.

Thats inflationary

This is a false start... We need to cut the red tape to create more manufacturing and Biden just keeps increasing regulation -- he is killing this opportunity. Factories are being build because of supply chain failures not Biden policy.

Too expensive to build anything in the USA

Thank you Mr President

Siete padroni del vostro destino...come siete padroni delle atrocità che avete commesso e continuate inesorabilmente a commettere.

Japan, a war criminal nation that abducted teenage girls and teenagers in Korea during World War II, ran sex slavery units, and massacred most of them without paying the price, must perish.

very nice

Bring flea markets back too

So its not. Just take the opposite of what WSJ says.

When the USA can’t bully&manipulate other countries to be its affiliated puppet, it has no choice but to have everything made in the USA. Guess, the obesity issue will be tackled.

Big lies

So Trump was right

About time.

Oh no blue checks going to be postal over this. Too bad it's not country over party in reality

About time someone realised that outsourcing manufacturing is a recipe for decline. Watch the (Imperial) UK. Food, energy and manufacturing make a.superpower.

Thank you, President Trump

but entrepreneurs think of it in different ways. they couldn’t bear high salaries of workers and perpetual union strikes . so it’s impossible for Make in US

The goods will be expensive as compared to those coming from Asia.

If only it was true

Almost like... We are... Trying to.... MAKE.... AMARICAN GREAT AGAIN. You know that thing the Republicans wanted to do but the Democrats are like. 'Your racist and anti global' but now it's ok because my Dems are in power. So dumb

Thank you Trump

A Biden and WSJ promotion that is short on the real reason manufacturing has soared; it is a result of the coronavirus lockdown restrictions ending; and Biden incorrectly tries to take the credit for it, as he does repeatedly on various issues

Overdue.

This piece highlights what most people forget about globalization: secondary markets (food trucks) & less carbon emissions (goods doesn’t have to travel half way across the world).

Beyond confirming that there's no other goal in American politics (no matter if red or blue) than America First, it would be better to take back production to the US from China, Vietnam, Indonesia or wherever-corporations-can-cut-costs, than stealing from europeans 'allies'.

WSJ is backing Trump I see...

Too late now WSJ, you sold your soul to china decades ago, its time to pay the piper. enjoy your blood money and move on, its over, you destroyed america.

Good thinks

Funny 😂

I think trumbty dumpty said this before he went to jail ?

YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN! Made In AMERICA!!!!

Good to hear that if support to manufacturer exist and not the high barriers

That’s more American then a back alley abortion clinic.

Yeah! US$ will also be staying in America only because of multi-polar currency in trades. jorymicah judytgolf

Costly strategic mistakes...

Seriously? It’s been like 50 years of out sourcing to cheap foreign suppliers. Now America can claim victory (or even any meaningful progress) for restoration of all that Made America Great? Simply left propaganda as I see it.

Bring back the unions

Mavaffanculo.

When Trump espoused this Biden called him a racist seclusionist who wanted to turn his back on the world to create his own tyrannical empire and the media ran with it wholesale. What's changed?

I remember that being recommended a few years ago.

WSJ guy? Hopie too? Camera for Sugar? Lub

ESG says eat bugs, live in thatched shack
