Siana Gordan, mother of Jahaad Atkinson, 9, and Wydeia Kimble, mother of Ah’Yir Womack, 12, are seeking $20 million in damages against the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, the entity that operates Amtrak. Igwe said the case is not a simple incident of trespassing, as Amtrak initially contended, but rather a tragedy that could have been prevented if the company had maintained its property.
