Municipal leaders from Thunder Bay, Ont. travelled to London, Ont. this week to vie for more support for a variety of big-ticket items, from lithium processing facilities to policing. Here are some of the highlights from councillors' trip down south, and what they expect will come out of their marathon of meetings with provincial ministers.

Thunder Bay, Ont.'s Coun. Shelby Ch'ng speaks at a media briefing at city hall following the Association of Municipalities Ontario's annual general meeting and conference.

The city sent Coun. Kristen Oliver and Coun. Shelby Ch'ng – chair and vice-chair of the intergovernmental affairs committee respectively – along with mayor Ken Boshcoff and city manager Norm Gale to London, Ont. to participate in a marathon of meetings. These plants would also yield spinoff and ancillary businesses, and coupled with research and development opportunities at local colleges and universities,"it's a huge economic boom," she said.
